1.0 PROBLEM

Child protection centres in Singapore do meaningful work with little public visibility. The project’s aim was to give the public a deeper understanding of these centres — what they do, where they are, and how to support them — through a single platform that aggregates centre information, community discussion, and donations.

2.0 FEATURES / ARCHITECTURE

The site is a PHP/MySQL application built front-to-back by a team of four. Centre listings are populated from database rows — adding a centre is an insert, not a code change — and a dynamic gallery view is likewise driven by SQL. An internal search filter queries the database and renders matching centres on the front end.

Every centre’s detail page carries its own blog/discussion forum, each backed by a dedicated comment table, with PHP validation on submissions. Donations run through the PayPal sandbox: a user selects an amount on the donation page and the funds transfer from a personal sandbox account to the platform’s business account.

3.0 NOTES

To run the project from the repository, launch mainPage.php. The four-person team split the work across the stack; the codebase covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL end to end.
